Animal types

The Animals of Poker

I recently read Phil Hellmuth's book, Play Poker Like the Pro's, and my favorite pat had to be the animal types.

Phil explains it like this:

MOUSE-Conservative, plays only top ten hands but hates to invest chips with a weak hand. They hardly ever raise someone else's bet, but when he does look out.

LION- Tough player who plays fairly tight does not limit himself to the top ten hands. He bluffs with excellant timing and seems to know when other players are bluffing.

JACKAL-Loose and wild, some days it's like he's giving away chips. He's involved in so many pots and raises often.

ELEPHANT-Plays fairly loose (see's lot's of hands) He never folds, when he should because he doesn't believe that you have "the good" hand. Because he seems impossible to bluff, many inexperienced players won't try. (Unless your the mouse.) He isn't very sharp and not very deangerous for most players except the jackal.

EAGLE-The eagle is a rare bird of prey, and you might not ever play with him cause he's one of the top 100 poker players in the world.

Most play a little like all of them some of us play like a few...but it is the real poker player that knows when and how to play like the best.  'll explain that a little later.

Quick rules of Texas Hold'em Poker

Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning - Xbox 360 - Xbox 360 Games (Google Affiliate Ad)

The Rules

The rules are simple and the best way to learn is to sit down and grab a hand!! Hold 'em is normally played using small and big blind bets – forced bets by two players.  Antes (forced contributions by all players) may be used in addition to blinds, particularly in later stages of tournament play. A dealer button is used to represent the player in the dealer position; the dealer button rotates clockwise after each hand, changing the position of the dealer and blinds. The small blind is posted by the player to the left of the dealer and is usually equal to half of the big blind. The big blind, posted by the player to the left of the small blind, is equal to the minimum bet. In tournament poker, the blind/ante structure
periodically increases as the tournament progresses. (In some cases, the small blind is some other fraction of a small bet; e.g., $10 is a common small blind when the big blind is $15, and still other tables may use two equal blinds. The double-blind structure described above is a commonly used and more recent adoption.)

Poker notes # 1

OK, now like I said, the best way to learn to play Poker is to "get your feet wet".  I started playing poker online about 5 years ago, before the "Government" stopped everyone in the U.S. from playing for money.  When your learning its best to not play for cash til you get to see just how people play and using these strategies, you'll play like a pro.

The object is to look at poker as chips per /hr:

When you work a job you more than likely get paid by the hour (unless you're salaried..lol) So you want to play the same way...it's ok to lose chips but not go over your chips per hour.

Here's your 1st system:
Waiting is seriously under rated, you have the opportunity to observe all other players and therefore start to put pieces of the puzzle together.  Using animal forms helps you to remember what type of personality they are and then stratigize on how to exploit them, dominate the table and take all the chips.
